The role
The Finance Manager will build the operational and financial foundations to support Shalion's growth from €10M to €30M ARR, leading the Accounting & Admin team (2 FTEs). Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a hybrid role: strategic builder (new processes, systems, and team structure) and rigorous operator (month-end close ownership and administrative housekeeping).
You will partner closely with HR and external tax and legal advisors to ensure flawless execution and compliance across our entities in Spain and the US.
Your Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Close
Own all accounting operations: AP, AR, billing, and General Ledger.
Ensure accurate monthly and year-end close, preparing P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements.
Oversee multi-currency transactions and lead financial consolidation across Spain and US entities.
Monitor cash flow and runway, oversee bank reconciliations, payment controls, and supplier payments.
Partner with the CFO on reporting and FP&A: variance analysis, board reporting, SaaS KPIs, annual budgeting, and forecasting.
Systems & Automation
Spearhead the implementation of new tools and systems, including a new ERP, and define the underlying accounting processes and methodologies.
Drive automation of administrative workflows to support scaling transaction volumes.
Compliance, Tax & Legal
Liaise with HR on payroll execution and correct accounting treatment.
Oversee external tax advisors for local and international tax compliance, including Transfer Pricing between ES and US entities.
Work with external legal counsel on corporate books, annual filings, and regulatory requirements.
Lead the annual external audit: act as the primary point of contact for auditors, prepare supporting documentation, and ensure timely resolution of findings.
Team Leadership & Internal Controls
Design the Accounting & Admin team's growth roadmap; hire, onboard, and mentor junior finance team members.
Allocate workload clearly across functions and team members.
Safeguard the accuracy and integrity of financial data and reporting.
Build financial policies and control frameworks, ensuring audit-readiness for future fundraising rounds or due diligence processes.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 6–9 years in finance/accounting; experience in a fast-growing B2B SaaS or VC-backed scale-up and/or Big 4 background highly valued.
Technical: Proven month-end close ownership, financial consolidation, and multi-currency management; strong command of Spanish accounting and tax framework; US accounting and tax exposure a strong plus.
Systems: ERP implementation experience is a plus; advanced Excel skills; proactive adoption of AI tools within finance workflows.
SaaS: Fluent in SaaS metrics (ARR, NRR, Churn, CAC Payback), recurring revenue dynamics, and revenue recognition principles.
Mindset: Analytical, proactive, hands-on today and a team leader tomorrow, problem-solving, attention to detail, team management abilities.
Languages: Fluent in English and Spanish
